Our Team

Sterling Warmbloods ltd is owned by Sheena and Dermot Ross.

Sheena is a Grand Prix rider who is devoted to the breeding, training and competing of our Hanoverian dressage horses. She is enthusiastic about selecting from the finest dressage stallions available from the Hanoverian studbook. Sheena also enjoys teaching dressage and teaches a number of local riders of varying levels.

One of the most enjoyable and important times of the year is the foaling season. Our new babies are awaited with huge excitement. There are only one or two foals each year and each is very special.

Dermot is an Auckland lawyer with his own commercial practise in the city. Dermot is a weekend stud farm worker (slave) with responsibility for some very important aspects of the breeding business. Dermot very much enjoys the social side of Sterling and is always ready to show visitors our horses and share a glass of wine.

We breed and train Hanoverian dressage horses. We aim to provide talented, safe dressage horses for New Zealand and international clients. We are a small operation and have recently started training our first homebred progeny. We also have facilities for hire such as a dressage arena with mirrors and short stay stables, paddocks or accommodation available in Clevedon, Auckland.

Kate Oleksow

Kate is our fabulous Stud Manager. She is the central person who makes our yard work well. We could not manage with out her. She has been with us since early 2013 and we hope she will be with us always! She is the best carer for our horses and always is smiling and laughing.

Andy Daines

Andy has recently joined our team as our rider for the young horses. We have been looking for a while to find the right rider to help with the team. He is currently riding Parkridge D’Vine SW and has already had some super scores with him. He will also take the babies to a few shows before Sheena takes over the ride. We are very impressed with Andy’s skill and patience. He is also very confident and calm.
